The search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues, and new details have emerged. The 84-year-old woman was last seen on January 31, 2026, and was reported missing the following day. So far, no suspects have been named; however, on February 4, unconfirmed information surfaced regarding Savannah’s son-in-law, Tommaso Chioni.

Here’s what is known about Tommaso, Nancy’s son-in-law.

Tommaso is the husband of Savannah’s sister, Annie Guthrie, with whom the Today show host has a close relationship. Annie, a published author, has received support from Savannah over the years, especially when she released her book «Good Darkness» in 2020.

According to People, Savannah spoke fondly of her sister at a cocktail party that year, noting that Annie «has always been my biggest cheerleader» and describing her as «as deep as they come».

«I'm glad the world will get to know the sister I know and grew up with in our little Brady Bunch family», - Savannah added at the time.

Authorities have not made any public statements regarding Tommaso, but former NewsNation host Ashleigh Banfield reported that she spoke with a law enforcement source who claimed that police identified Tommaso as a potential suspect in Nancy’s disappearance.

Neither the Pima County Sheriff’s Department nor other law enforcement representatives have commented on the information regarding Tommaso. However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Us Weekly that Annie was the last person to see Nancy before her disappearance.

«We have a starting point», - Sheriff Nanos said. «The family took her home from dinner around 9:30—9:45. So we can start looking even from 9 or 8:30 in the evening».

The sheriff noted that Annie did not raise any «red flags» about her mother on the day she last saw her. It remains unclear whether her husband, Tommaso, was with her and Nancy on January 31.

The sheriff’s department released a statement on February 4, stating that «at this time, no suspect or person of interest has been identified».

«At this time, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case», - the statement began. Detectives continue to communicate with those who may have interacted with Ms. Guthrie. Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public’s concern, spreading unconfirmed allegations or false information is irresponsible and does not aid the investigation."
