American Airlines Flight 1006 caught fire on the tarmac at Denver Airport in Colorado after an emergency landing on Thursday, March 14, 2025. The flight had departed from Colorado Springs Airport and was headed to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in Texas. This aviation incident was one of many in a series of recent disasters, accidents, and other incidents on both commercial and non-commercial flights across the United States since the beginning of 2025, raising concerns about safety among travelers.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a statement on the situation, received by CBS News, stating: «After landing and during taxiing to the gates, one of the engines caught fire, and passengers were evacuated from the plane using inflatable slides».

According to American Airlines, there was an «engine issue» on the plane after landing and taxiing to the gates.

«172 passengers and 6 crew members exited the plane and were transported to the terminal», - the airline statement read, according to CBS. «We thank our crew, the Denver airport team, and first responders for their quick and decisive actions prioritizing the safety of everyone on board and on the ground».

Social media exploded with videos of the incident. Many people shared videos of flames and smoke coming from the plane as passengers evacuated onto the wing of the aircraft.

According to CBS News, there were 178 people on board the burning plane. Twelve passengers were taken to the nearest hospital for evaluation of their injuries.

According to multiple sources, American Airlines has had about 11 disasters in its history. Air France reportedly had a similar number.
