Voice actress of Pokemon, Rachel Lillis, passed away at the age of 46 after battling breast cancer.

Lillis was best known for her roles as Misty and Jessie in the animated series, which she voiced from 1997 to 2015, appearing in over 400 episodes and movies, including «Pokemon: The First Movie» and «Pokemon: The Movie 2000». Her passing was announced on Monday, August 12, by her former castmate Veronica Taylor.

Rachel passed away on the evening of Saturday, August 10, leaving her loved ones with a «heavy heart». The 58-year-old actress shared on Instagram: «I'm not sure how this very dark void will be filled now that her light no longer shines in it. She left during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. Like those falling stars, Rachel was a magnificent wonder and truly special. She burned brightly and disappeared too soon. She will live on in our memories forever».

Veronica, who voiced Ash Ketchum, one of Misty’s closest friends, spoke highly of Rachel, saying: «Rachel was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice, whether speaking or singing. She will forever be remembered for the many animated roles she portrayed, with her iconic performances as Misty and Jessie from Pokemon being the most beloved».

She added: «Rachel was very grateful for all the generous love and support she received during her battle with cancer. It truly made a positive difference. Her family also wants to thank you as they spend this time in private mourning. A memorial is planned for the future».

Rachel was diagnosed in May, and her sister Lori Orr shared on their GoFundMe page, where over $ 97,000 was raised, that Rachel’s health began to deteriorate last week, ultimately leading to her death, which Lori described as «unexpected» and «devastating».

«She passed away peacefully on Saturday night, without pain, and for that we are grateful. She is with God, angels, and family who went before her, surrounded by infinite Love», expressed Lori. «My heart breaks losing my dear younger sister, though I am comforted knowing she is free»
