Residents of Minneapolis were warned about severe weather expected on Monday, April 28. The city announced that several establishments, including schools, would close in advance due to the unfavorable forecast, and a tornado warning was issued for the area.
«The National Weather Service predicts a high risk of severe storms in Minneapolis — level 4 out of 5 — with the possibility of tornadoes, large hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning», - officials in Minneapolis said, citing multiple sources.
Much of southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities are currently facing unfavorable weather. It was expected that the storm would approach in two waves, with the morning wave bringing heavy rain and small hail. Although no serious damage was reported, it is expected that the second wave will bring more hail, strong winds, and possible tornadoes.
As of Monday evening, the National Weather Service (NWS) updated residents of Minneapolis that the tornado warning was in effect until 11:00 PM local time. The following counties are at risk, according to multiple sources: Rice County, Steele County, Waseca County, and Blue Earth County.
