Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, passed away at a rehabilitation center on September 20. This was reported by Us Weekly, citing a statement from the family representative, which said that the family is asking for privacy during this difficult time.
Six months before his death, Presley opened up about his treatment for addiction, which he underwent using ibogaine—a natural compound derived from the bark of the African plant Tabernanthe iboga. According to the Ibogaine Health Institute, therapeutic doses can be used to treat opioid addiction and other substance use disorders. Currently, ibogaine is not legal in the United States.
In his Instagram post from March 26, Presley shared a video of himself preparing for treatment and wrote that he was scared but understood it was necessary. He noted that his mantras were «love yourself» and «this has to be the last time». Presley also expressed hope that this would be the last time he would have to go through something like this.
Among those who commented on his post were Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber, and his sister Kaia. Cindy wrote, «You are a warrior! So proud of you!» while Kaia added, «That's my brother, I’m so proud». Rande supported his son, saying he had always admired his determination to fight for his life.
In 2023, Presley also spoke about his mental health struggles on the podcast «Studio 22», - emphasizing that he wanted to help others facing similar challenges.
