President Joe Biden has declined to participate in the 2024 elections:
President Joe Biden appeared in a historic televised presidential address since announcing his decision not to participate in the 2024 presidential race. Addressing the American public from the Oval Office on Wednesday, July 24, the 81-year-old Biden began his speech by paying tribute to his predecessors, including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, «who showed us that presidents are not kings».

«I respect this office, but I love this country more», - emphasized Biden, noting that «this sacred task of perfecting our union is not about me».

Throughout his address, the longtime politician promised to fulfill his duties as President of the United States in the remaining six months of his term. Furthermore, Biden promised to «continue to stand up» and «fight» for Americans, especially when it comes to gun violence and Supreme Court reform. Regarding how Americans can preserve this democracy, Biden noted that «kings and dictators» have no place in the United States.

Reflecting on his humble childhood in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden noted that he never imagined he would achieve the position he is in now.

«It has been the honor of my life to serve as your president. I draw strength and find joy in working for the people. But this sacred task of perfecting our Union is not about me. It’s about you. Your families. Your futures. It’s about 'We the People,'» tweeted Joe Biden on July 25, 2024.

«We are a nation of promise and opportunity, dreamers and doers, ordinary Americans doing extraordinary things», - he explained. «I have given my heart and soul to this nation. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your president».

Although he declined the opportunity for re-election, stepping out of the race, Biden acknowledged that «the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation» — specifically «new voices» and «young voices».

«I have given my heart and soul, as have many others. And I have been blessed a million times over in response to the love and support of the American people. I hope you know how grateful I am to all of you», - tweeted Joe Biden on July 25, 2024.

«I believe that my experience as president, my vision for the future of America… nothing can stand in the way of saving our democracy», - he added, giving credit to his Vice President Kamala Harris as an «incredible partner». Biden also called the 59-year-old presumed Democratic candidate «strong» and more than capable of moving the nation forward.

«It has been the privilege of my life to serve this nation for 50 years», - he concluded. «The idea of America lies in your hands. Just keep the faith and remember who we are. There is nothing beyond our reach if we do it together».

President Biden’s decision to not participate in the race came amid persistent requests from Democrats and other public figures, all urging him to step aside. Now that Harris is the presumed candidate, she is on the campaign trail and has received numerous endorsements from celebrities and Democratic colleagues. Earlier this week, the Vice President raised over $ 80 million in donations in the first 24 hours of her campaign
