The Daytona 500 race officially opened the NASCAR season of 2025 at its 67th annual event at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

President Trump is in Florida at the Daytona 500 race, becoming the first sitting president to attend two Daytona 500 races. He took a lap around the track in his motorcade, riding in his black limousine «The Beast», - and delivered a message to the drivers. He previously attended this event in 2020.
Before his arrival at the airport on Sunday, February 16, Trump released a statement:
«This iconic race showcases the fastest, most fearless drivers in motorsports, representing the nation’s love for traditions, competition, and automotive innovation. Daytona 500 brings people from all walks of life together — from lifelong racing fans to newcomers — all joining in the celebration of a shared passion for speed, adrenaline, and the excitement of racing».
«From the roar of engines on the track to the echo of the 'Stars and Stripes' flag waving through the stands, Daytona 500 is an eternal tribute to speed, power, and the indomitable spirit that makes America great. This spirit will fuel America’s Golden Age, and if we harness it, the future truly belongs to us».
He also expressed gratitude to the military, acknowledging «selfless men and women in uniform who risk their lives to ensure our safety». He concluded his statement by saying, «Melania and I send our best wishes for a safe and successful race. May God bless our Armed Forces, and may He continue to bless the United States of America».
On Friday, NASCAR moved the race start time from 2:30 pm Eastern Time to 1:30 pm Eastern Time in anticipation of possible inclement weather.
Usually, the Daytona 500 race, where drivers compete for the prestigious Harley J. Earl Trophy, lasts from three to four hours. However, factors such as accidents, rain, and track conditions can often lead to delays and an extended race duration.
The 2025 Daytona 500 race is being broadcast on Fox.
