Prince George may follow in his father, Prince William’s footsteps and become a pilot. According to Hello! magazine, the 41-year-old royal recalled during a garden party at Buckingham Palace meeting Squadron Leader Chrissie Lacey, that his eldest son would enjoy visiting a Royal Air Force base and is a «potential pilot in the making».

From the age of 2, George has been sitting in airplane cockpits and meeting pilots at public events. He has been well educated by his father, said Flight Lieutenant Jim Hobkirk, who met him on his way out, «I suppose his father has told him about helicopters, so he knew what it was called, and kept saying 'tail rotor.' It was good to see his technical knowledge! Some training started early!»

In addition to George, 10-year-old William shares children with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with Princess Kate.

The 10-year-old boy was introduced to aviation through his family history. According to the Royal Air Force Museum, up until the 1900s, King George VI — Queen Elizabeth II’s father — was a pilot himself, and many royal family members followed suit, including William. He was a Royal Air Force search and rescue pilot and an East Anglian Air Ambulance pilot, and Prince Harry served as a helicopter pilot during his time in the British Army. Although Kate was not a pilot, she was appointed Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Coningsby alongside her husband.

The royal family had a difficult year. Kate, 42, has not been seen in public since December 2023, prompting many to question her health. She announced it via video in March, explaining: «In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and it was then thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The operation was successful. However, after the operation, tests revealed the presence of cancer. My medical team therefore advised me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am currently in the early stages of this treatment… It was, of course, a huge shock, and William and I are doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family».

Like Kate, King Charles III is also battling cancer. After being diagnosed, he released a statement, noting that he would like to «express my most sincere thanks for the multitude of messages of support and kind wishes I have received in recent days… As all those who have suffered from cancer know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and support»
