Prince Harry gave his first interview after returning to the UK during the Invictus Spirit Awards ceremony. In a conversation with Hello! magazine, he shared his impressions since moving back to his homeland with his wife Meghan Markle and their children Archie and Lilibet.
Harry noted that the last two weeks have been busy, adding, «We're diving into work. The kids are in school. We’re happy. And, as I said, it’s great to be back on British soil». He also expressed joy at the opportunity to meet old acquaintances and new faces at the event dedicated to the Invictus Games, which will take place in Birmingham next year.
However, Harry and Meghan’s return has not been met with enthusiasm from the royal family. In a letter obtained by People magazine, King Charles confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will remain «similar to private citizens» and will not be «working members of the royal family». The letter was issued by Lord Benyon at the king’s direction and explained that Harry and Meghan’s status would not change, and their charitable activities would be conducted privately.
The king also addressed family security issues, stating that any requests from official organizations should be directed to Buckingham Palace. A representative for Harry and Meghan told the BBC that the couple was «a bit surprised» that they were not notified about this in advance.
