Prince Harry spoke about how he supported his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at the beginning of the new school year after the family moved to the UK. In an interview with Hello!, he mentioned that during breakfast on September 21, his children felt a bit sad about the start of the week.
Harry noted that he was able to cheer up the kids by telling them about his participation in the WellChild Awards ceremony—a charity event that annually honors individuals who support seriously ill children in the UK. He shared that when the children started to get fussy, he decided to tell them about his plans for the evening, which sparked their genuine interest and many questions.
The prince, who has been a patron of WellChild since 2007, added that his commitment to the charity has deepened with the arrival of his children. He remarked that becoming a parent has made him more grateful for the health of his kids. Harry also emphasized that by interacting with parents of sick children, he understands that he has no right to complain about his own problems.
Harry attended the WellChild Awards alone, as he did at the recent Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards on September 7, which marked his first public appearance in the UK since his return. His wife, Meghan Markle, has not yet made any official public appearances, although she has shared moments from their new life on social media.
The family returned to the UK at the end of last month so that the children could start attending a new school; however, it was soon announced that there would be a change in the school. A representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated that the decision to transfer the children was made after discussions with the family’s security team and does not reflect any negative feelings towards the previous school.
