Prince William gave a touching update about his wife, Princess Kate, during her battle with cancer. During the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings during World War II, Prince William, 41, was asked by a veteran how his wife, 42, was feeling.
As seen in a video posted on social media on Wednesday, June 5, William leaned in to speak to the veteran who asked if Kate was improving.
«Yes, she would have loved to be here today», - William replied. He also told the veteran that he «reminds everyone that Kate’s grandmother served at Bletchley Park, so she had a lot in common with some of the ladies here who were at Bletchley».
While shaking hands with the veteran, William added, «Nice to see you. See you in five years for the 85th anniversary».
Since March, Kate has been focused on her recovery from an unspecified form of cancer. At the time, the Princess of Wales explained that this was the reason she had not been seen in public for months.
«In January, I underwent major surgery on my abdomen in London, and at that time it was believed that my condition was not cancerous», - she explained in a video message posted on March 22. «The surgery was successful. However, tests after the surgery revealed the presence of cancer. My medical team therefore advised me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of this treatment».
Calling her husband a «great source of comfort and support», - Kate noted that her diagnosis «came as a huge shock», - and she and William are «doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family».
The Prince and Princess of Wales are raising their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Less than two months later, Kate celebrated her and William’s daughter’s 9th birthday. Despite her health condition, the royal figure shared a bright photo of Charlotte on social media.
Last week, a friend of the family stated that Kate is «feeling much better» during treatment, speaking to Vanity Fair. The unnamed friend also noted that the mother of three is «tolerating the medications»
