Prince William’s summer is coming to an end.
After a private vacation in Balmoral with his wife Kate Middleton and their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, the Prince of Wales revealed his plans to return to public duties.
On August 22, Kensington Palace announced that the 42-year-old prince will visit the exhibition «Homeless: Reconsidered» at the Saatchi Gallery in London on September 5.
The exhibition highlights the complexities of homelessness throughout the United Kingdom and provides the public with an opportunity to better understand the stories of those affected.
During his visit, Prince William will meet with British artists whose works are featured in the exhibition, many of whom have either experienced homelessness themselves or have been inspired by the real stories of those affected. He will also hear from renowned British photographer Rankin, who contributed to the exhibition, and spend time with children from the charity organization Creative Kids, who participated in one of the workshops for the «Open Doors» section of the presentation.
The issue of homelessness has been close to Prince William’s heart since his mother, Princess Diana, took him to a homeless shelter when he was 11. Fighting homelessness was a key component of Diana’s work as a royal figure, and Prince William continues her legacy by serving as a patron of several charities dedicated to addressing this issue.
This upcoming event will be Prince William’s first public appearance since July 14, when he and his eldest son, 11-year-old George, attended the final of the European Football Championship between England and Spain in Berlin, Germany.
On August 11, Prince William and Princess Kate released a video message congratulating the British team on their success at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
«To all of us watching from home, congratulations to the British team!» said Princess Kate during their performance on the street in the video.
«Well done for everything you have achieved. You have been an inspiration to all of us», - added Prince William, who sported an unexpected beard in the video.
Members of the British royal family usually retreat from public attention from mid-July to early September to rest and recuperate. King Charles III continues the tradition of Queen Elizabeth to vacation at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, which historically served as a meeting place for the extended family
