Princess Kate will not be inspecting the Trooping of the Colour military parade this year due to her battle with cancer, confirmed the palace. Furthermore, she will miss the rehearsal for the event next month, according to multiple sources. However, it is unclear whether she plans to attend the event scheduled for June 15.
Last week, a representative from Kensington Palace noted that the 42-year-old Princess of Wales remains committed to her duties, primarily her business task for the Royal Family’s Childhood Foundation, despite currently being unable to attend public events.
«It's a clear commitment she’s made throughout her life of public service that this will be her focus», - the representative told the Daily Mail on May 21. «It will continue when she returns to work. But we’ve been very clear that she needs space and privacy to recover right now».
Adding that Kate «has been the driving force behind the business task force», - the representative noted that she «has been informed since the task force was created, read the report, and was briefed on it». However, she cannot fully return to her duties until she receives «the green light from doctors», - the representative concluded.
In March, Kate announced that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer. She explained in a video message that it was discovered after a planned operation on her abdomen, which, as she noted, was successful.
«My medical team has therefore advised me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am currently at the early stages of this treatment», - she explained at the time.
Acknowledging that her diagnosis «came as a huge shock» to her and her family, Kate noted that her priority was to follow the doctors' instructions and reassure her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, that she «will be okay». The royal shares her children with her husband Prince William, who has been a «great source of comfort and support» for Kate, as she said in her video.
«My work has always brought me deep joy, and I look forward to returning when I can», - she said, before concluding: «But right now, I need to focus on full recovery»
