Michael P. Desronville, the only juror who disagreed with the verdict in the Lindsay Clancy case, spoke out about the case being declared a mistrial. He stated that attention should be focused on Clancy’s three children, who cannot speak for themselves. Desronville noted that he is grateful to God for his Catholic faith and the support he received in this difficult situation.
Massachusetts Supreme Court Justice William F. Sullivan declared the Clancy case a mistrial on September 4 after the jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict regarding the deaths of Clancy’s three children in January 2023. Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, did not deny that she killed her children but argued that she should not be held criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors, on the other hand, contended that Clancy was fully aware of her actions at the time of the killings.
Following the announcement of the mistrial, reports emerged that Desronville was the only juror who disagreed with the finding of Clancy’s insanity. Desronville’s attorney, Edward Paltzik, defended his client, calling him «an American hero and a defender of justice». He also reported that Desronville had received death threats and promised to take all possible measures against those who attack him.
In recent days, information has come to light regarding Desronville’s past legal troubles, including a domestic violence charge in 2021 that was later dropped. Clancy’s attorney filed a motion to access Desronville’s questionnaires and his mobile phones during the deliberation period. The next hearing is scheduled for September 29.
