Prith Pankaj Jain arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor

A 31-year-old man named Prit Pankaj Jain has been arrested in North Carolina on suspicion of sexual exploitation and extortion involving a 17-year-old girl. According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Jain allegedly traveled from India to try to reconnect with the teenager he had previously communicated with online.
The incident occurred on September 24, when an Uber driver reported to the police that his passenger, Jain, was allegedly stalking a minor. During his interaction with the police, Jain claimed he was trying to leave gifts for the girl with whom he had an online relationship. The investigation revealed that he had been posing as a young man on social media and had initiated a romantic relationship with the girl. When she discovered his true identity, she cut off communication and blocked him.
Jain has been charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, four counts of third-degree sexual exploitation, and one count of sexual extortion. Court documents indicate that he unlawfully solicited the girl for sexual activity and attempted to blackmail her by threatening to distribute a personal image if she did not unblock him on social media. Following his arrest, Jain was held without bond. His first court appearance was on September 25, with the next scheduled for October 6.
