Hannah Kobayashi has been missing since at least November 10th. Known online as the «missing woman from Hawaii», - Kobayashi’s case has captured the nation’s attention and the residents of Los Angeles. Her disappearance occurred after she missed a connecting flight. Now, with her father, Ryan Kobayashi, deceased, Hannah’s disappearance continues to concern the public and authorities.

Hannah was last seen on November 10th at a Nike event held at the popular Los Angeles shopping center, The Grove. Later, surveillance footage of Hannah was published by RAD Movement via Facebook, showing her in downtown Los Angeles, near Pico and Hill Streets. The video showed Hannah with someone else, and it is unclear who that person was.
Hannah flew from Maui, Hawaii, to Los Angeles on November 8th, en route to New York. She had less than an hour to catch her connecting flight to New York, but Hannah was late, and her family said she wanted to take a walk around Los Angeles.
Two days later, Hannah went to The Grove, which is more than 10 miles from Los Angeles International Airport. In the following days, her family began receiving strange text messages from her phone. Hannah’s aunt, Larry Ingram, wrote on Facebook on November 14th that Hannah’s last message to her family was «alarming».
«She mentioned feeling scared and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity», - Larry wrote in her Facebook post. «Since then, she has not been in touch, and we are very concerned about her safety».
According to NBC News, the Facebook group RAD Movement published surveillance footage of Hannah in downtown Los Angeles.
«The video shows that Hannah is in a bad condition and not alone», - noted the non-profit organization, citing a source. «Due to the ongoing and active nature of this investigation, we cannot disclose further details at this time… There are reasons to believe that from the video surveillance, not everything is okay with Hannah».
On November 24, 2024, RAD Movement announced via Facebook that Hannah’s father, Ryan, had taken his own life.
«The Kobayashi family experienced a devastating tragedy today. After an intense search throughout Los Angeles for 13 days, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life», - the group shared. «This loss has multiplied the family’s suffering many times over».
According to NBC News, the Los Angeles police stated that there is no additional information, and the investigation into Hannah’s disappearance continues.
