Morgan Geyser, one of the two convicted individuals in the infamous «Slender Man» murder case in 2014, briefly disappeared at the end of 2025 after being released from a psychiatric facility and transferred to a group home. This case garnered national attention as all suspects and the victim were 12 years old at the time when Geyser and her friend stabbed their classmate to prove that «Slender Man» — a fictional supernatural internet meme — exists.
Below, you will learn about the «Slender Man» murder case and who Geyser is.
Geyser is from Wisconsin and was convicted for stabbing her classmate Peyton Leutner when they were both 12 years old. Geyser and her friend Anissa Weier lured Leutner into a park in 2014 and stabbed her multiple times to prove that Slender Man exists. Miraculously, Leutner survived.
In 2017, Weier and Geyser were found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and were sent to psychiatric facilities. Geyser was sentenced to 40 years of life imprisonment, and Weier to 25 years of life imprisonment. Both were released early; Weier went to live with her family in 2021, and Geyser was released in early 2025 to live in a group home.
Geyser disappeared from the group home in November 2025 and was found shortly after. The Madison police stated that Geyser’s GPS monitoring bracelet had malfunctioned, and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections later determined that Geyser had removed the bracelet. The next morning, Geyser was reported missing, and she was found later that same evening.
As mentioned earlier, Leutner survived the stabbing. She was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after the attack.
When Geyser was reported missing, a representative of her family released a statement thanking law enforcement for their efforts.
«Peyton and her family are safe and are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure their continued safety», - the statement read. «The family would like to thank all law enforcement agencies involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan. The Leutner family also wants to thank relatives, friends, and well-wishers who have reached out to them during this difficult time».
Geyser is currently in custody. She was found shortly after her disappearance from the group home at the end of November 2025
