Maya Hawke shared new information with fans about the upcoming season in an interview with Penn Badgley on his podcast «Podcrushed». Considering that fans have been eagerly awaiting the fifth season of the Netflix series, the 25-year-old Maya was asked what they can expect, and she revealed that the episodes will be long.
It has been over two years since the release of the fourth season of «Stranger Things» on Netflix. In addition to SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that temporarily halted production, Maya revealed another reason why the new season is taking so long to come out: the length of the episodes. «We are essentially filming eight movies», - she said, as reported by E! News. «The episodes are very long».
Perhaps it should not be a huge surprise for fans to learn that the episodes will be very long. Although the show has had hour-long episodes from the beginning, most episodes of the fourth season were around an hour and 15 minutes, with the last three episodes being movie-length — an hour and 40 minutes, an hour and 27 minutes, and over two hours. So fans are already accustomed to long episodes.
Maya also praised the hard work of the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, and explained why each episode takes so long to film. «Our showrunners, Matt and Ross Duffer, carry a lot of responsibility.
