Quincy Hall: victory at the Olympics in Paris 2024 — a surprise for everyone!

The epic victory of Quincy Hall in the final of the 400-meter race at the Olympics in Paris was a huge surprise for the other runners behind him. The 26-year-old track and field star initially held fourth place, but accelerated enough to cross the finish line and leave his competitors behind.

Although he later went to Paris to represent the USA at the 2024 Olympics, Quincy is originally from Kansas City, Missouri.
Years before his meteoric rise as an Olympian, Quincy participated in several other sports during his studies. In addition to track and field, he was a wrestler and football player at Raytown South High School in Missouri.
The athlete competed at Sequoia College in California, where he became the California Community College Athletic Association champion in the 4×400-meter relay and the 400-meter hurdles.
He later competed for the University of South Carolina.
In the weeks leading up to his participation in the 2024 Olympics, Quincy set a personal record by running 400 meters in 43.80 seconds at the Diamond League Herculis in Monaco.
In the final seconds of the 400-meter final, Quincy was in fourth place behind runners Matthew Hudson-Smith from Great Britain, Musa Isah from Zambia, and Jereem Richards from Trinidad. However, he quickly turned the tables, overtaking the others in the last 100 meters and securing the gold medal for America.
Quincy celebrated his epic victory by making a snow angel on the track. He then commented on his incredible victory, telling NBC: «I just thought, 'Get home, sir. Get home, sir.' I don’t give up. I just grind, I hammer. I have determination… I told you I was going to get a gold medal this year. I knew I could win. I knew it today. This is what I do my whole career»
