Ryan Reynolds defends Jamie Lee Curtis after criticism of MCU: «Why apologize for your opinion?»

Ryan Reynolds never takes anything seriously.
So, after Jamie Lee Curtis apologized for some minor criticism of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, the star of «Deadpool» tried to lighten the mood and defend her right to make such remarks.
«Wait, does everyone have to apologize for criticizing Marvel after 'Endgame'?» wrote the 47-year-old actor on Thursday, August 1.
In 2022, Curtis also mocked the film «Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness», - comparing it to her Oscar-winning film «Everything Everywhere All at Once».
She claimed that the film «Doctor Strange» lacked «an explosive dildo scene and a very erotic dance with a hot dog hand». In contrast, her film «has a DEEPLY BEATING heart and BRILLIANT visual treats, OUTSTANDING performances and FANTASTIC FIGHT SCENES… And it COSTS LESS than the ENTIRE budget for catering the crew on 'Doctor Strange' and/or any other Marvel film».
As expected from large fan communities, MCU fans quickly reacted to the negative comments, more or less forcing the star of «Freaky Friday» to apologize.
In a video where Kevin Hart praises Curtis for being a leader on the set of their new film, the actress wrote in the caption: «If I’m a leader, then a leader shouldn’t talk trash about other creators of collaborative art. My comments about Marvel were stupid, and I will do better. I reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer participate in this clickbait battle, not content».
Curtis had previously told PEOPLE magazine in July 2022 that she would «of course» play a role in a Marvel film, but acknowledged that her comments and age could be obstacles.
«Honestly, I can’t imagine they’ll ever call because I made a fuss», - she said at the time about her comments.
«But I’m a collaborative artist. I work with many people on many different things, and if the role was interesting and if I could bring what I do, of course, I would agree [to work with Marvel]. What can I do, say no? Of course!»
«But», - she continued, «it would be hard for me to imagine that Marvel would come up with something for a 64-year-old woman»
