Elvis Presley’s iconic home in Memphis, Tennessee, Graceland, was on the brink of foreclosure until his granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, was able to stop the sale. The star of «Daisy Jones & The Six», - 34-year-old Riley, recently filed a lawsuit against Naussany Investments & Private Lending company to prevent the auction of the property. As a result of her quick action, the foreclosure on Graceland was halted until further notice.
Riley has been the sole manager of Graceland since her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, passed away in January 2023.
Earlier this month, Riley called the auction of the property by Naussany Investments & Private Lending company «fraudulent» in the civil lawsuit she filed. According to multiple sources, the actress stated that her mother «never borrowed money from Naussany Investments and never transferred a mortgage agreement to them».
Additionally, Riley requested the court to issue a restraining order against the creditor or «any party acting in concert» to prevent «any extrajudicial sale of the property». She also claimed that the company «is not a legitimate entity» and was created «for the purpose of fraud» regarding the Promenade Trust Riley’s trust.
In another part of her lawsuit, Riley claimed that Lisa’s signature was forged on the alleged loan documents. The notary, who was listed as a witness, also noted that he had never met Lisa Marie, according to Yahoo! News.
«The note and mortgage are fraudulent and void», - Riley stated in court documents, adding that «those who participated in creating such documents are presumably guilty of forgery».
Reportedly, Elvis Presley Enterprises supported Riley’s claims against Naussany Investments & Private Lending company. Her grandmother, Priscilla Presley, even called the situation a «scam», - according to a message she posted on Twitter on Monday, May 20.
Earlier, Priscilla, 78, and Riley were involved in a legal battle over the ownership of Graceland in mid-2023. After Lisa Marie’s death, Priscilla filed a legal petition regarding her late daughter’s trust, noting that she was excluded from the management in favor of Riley. They settled the dispute in August 2023, and Riley was declared the sole manager of Lisa Marie’s estate. At that time, Riley spoke about the situation in an interview with Vanity Fair, defending her grandmother as a «beautiful woman» and «a big part of creating my grandfather’s legacy and Graceland».
«It's very important to her. It was the love of her life», - Riley told the publication, adding, «Any information in the press that says otherwise upsets me because, ultimately, all she wants is to love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and legacy. It’s her whole life»
