The news of O.J. Simpson’s death has divided many. Several celebrities shared their reactions on social media or on live broadcasts. Perhaps the most notable name was Caitlyn Jenner, whose ex-wife, Kris Jenner, was once married to O.J.'s lawyer in the 1990s, Robert Kardashian Sr. Although the Kardashian-Jenner family has not yet commented on the news, below are some of the most famous stars who reacted to O.J.'s death.
The news of O.J.'s death became known shortly before the episode of The View aired on Thursday, April 11. After Whoopi Goldberg announced it, co-host Sunny Hostin began her statement with the question: «Can anyone forget the trial of the century?»
«I mean, it was an 11-month trial. And Bronco, I think that’s one of those questions: 'Where were you when O.J. was in that Bronco?'» Sunny continued. «I remember being at Figueroa’s Cafe on a date with a guy named Paul… I also remember feeling that a great injustice had occurred. That’s one of the reasons why I became a prosecutor. Because I remember how Kris Starr looked, and I remember how Marcia Clark looked. I remember how the great, late Johnny Cochran looked and just the masterful job that, in my opinion, everyone did, and I became close to Kim Goldman. And I can tell you that even after… her brother, Ron, was murdered along with Nicole Simpson. And I remember how palpable that loss still is today».
Sunny concluded, noting: «For me, the tragedy was the injustice: the criminal trial, the fact that he was not found guilty. He was found responsible later, civilly».
The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed her opinion on the news, saying: «My parents had [the O.J. trial] on constantly, it really was. It consumed so much of our public consciousness. I remember that and Princess Diana’s death, just, how it struck me. And for me, when someone like that passes away, my only thought is I hope it brings a little peace to the victims' families. They won the civil case after the fact, because I agree; I think it was a miscarriage of justice. But that doesn’t make up for it. So I hope it helps them find a little peace».
Caitlyn took to Twitter with one brief — but intense — message: «Happy trails #OJSimpson».
Ron Goldman was the man who was stabbed and killed along with O.J.'s ex-wife, Nicole Brown. Ron’s father, Fred, reacted, telling NBC News: «The only thing I can say is just another reminder that Ron has been gone all these years. It’s not a great loss to the world. It’s just another reminder that Ron is gone»
