Kate Middleton made a rare appearance at Sunday service.
On Sunday, August 25, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales was spotted on her way to morning service at Crathie Kirk church in the Scottish village of Crathie, near the royal family’s Balmoral estate. In the car were Prince William, also 42, behind the wheel, and their eldest son, 11-year-old Prince George.
Middleton was dressed in a light brown plaid trench coat from Holland Cooper, paired with a brown felt hat with a feather from Hicks & Brown, while William was dressed in a dark blue suit.
The couple was accompanied at the service by King Charles III, who is also battling cancer, and his wife, Queen Camilla. Both were dressed in traditional Scottish tartan outfits, with the monarch in a red and green kilt and grey jacket. Also spotted were Prince Edward, accompanied by his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and their son, James, Viscount Severn.
The royal couple appeared in good spirits, happily chatting upon arrival.
This appearance comes two weeks after William and Kate released a video message dedicated to the British Olympic team on the final day of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kate’s last public appearance was at the Wimbledon final, and she also visited Trooping the Colour earlier this year.
Princess Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis in March and shared that she is undergoing chemotherapy. At the time, she asked for «time, space, and privacy as I complete my treatment».
In a subsequent update, the Princess of Wales said in a personal letter that there are «good and bad days», - but expressed hope to join «a few public engagements this summer, although I understand that I am not out of danger yet».
Receiving a standing ovation at the tennis tournament in July, Kate, along with other members of the royal family, stepped back from the spotlight in the summer months, preferring to spend time together at their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, and at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where British royals traditionally gather every August.
«She won’t have to be in the spotlight», - a palace source previously told PEOPLE magazine. «Being with family and just being herself will give her energy. There will be plenty of time to focus on her recovery»
