Love Riley Keough’s love for her late mother led her to complete Lisa Marie Presley’s memoirs.
«We feel honored to share the cover and title of this long-awaited memoir. Born into the American myth and raised in the wilds of Graceland, Lisa Marie Presley tells her entire story in this unique memoir, completed by her daughter, Riley Keough», - Random House shared on Tuesday, June 4.
Set to be published on October 15, the book titled «From Here to the Great Unknown» gets its name from the duet performed by Lisa and her father, Elvis Presley, called «Where No One Stands Alone» in the 2018 reissue. Originally, the song was part of the singer’s «How Great Thou Art» album «Jailhouse Rock».
With a cover featuring a photo of a young Lisa Marie sitting in front of her father, Riley — who became the next heir of Graceland, the home of the «King of Rock and Roll» — worked on the story for three to four years before her mother’s death. She shared that it was «bittersweet» for her to complete this project for Lisa Marie.
«It's just something I felt like I needed to do for her and help her finish this project… It’s very bittersweet, and I’m happy to do it for her… It makes me feel very close to her», - expressed the star of «Daisy Jones & The Six» in an interview for Variety.
This memoir sheds light on Elvis’s daughter just seven months after Lisa’s death from complications following a weight loss surgery she underwent a few years ago. The Presley family also lost another family member besides the heiress and Elvis in 2020. Lisa’s son Benjamin Keough died by suicide at the age of 27, leaving her with a «broken soul».
Despite the book announcement, Elvis’s granddaughter admitted in an interview for Vanity Fair that after her mother’s death, the days were gray. «It felt like the rug was pulled out from under us, and the floor beneath us dissolved. Everyone was in a sort of panic, trying to figure out how to move forward», - Riley expressed in a previous interview.
