Robert Irwin swaps the wild nature for the ballroom! The 21-year-old son of the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is participating in the 34th season of «Dancing with the Stars», - bringing his unique charm and energy to a completely new stage. Robert, who grew up following in his father’s footsteps at the Australia Zoo with his sister, is now stepping into the spotlight of live television, taking on the challenge of ballroom dancing. With fans already rooting for him, his journey on «Dancing with the Stars» promises to be one of the most exciting storylines of the season.
Learn more about him below.
Robert was only 2 years old when his father, Steve — the beloved «Crocodile Hunter» — tragically passed away in 2006 after an incident with a stingray. Since then, Robert has continued his father’s legacy, often speaking about how deeply Steve’s passion for the wild nature continues to inspire him.
«I often stumble across archival footage that I’ve never seen before», - Robert said in an interview with Access Hollywood. «And suddenly his memory starts flooding back. So it’s strange that decades later, after losing someone when I was 2 years old, I have an even brighter picture of who he was as a person».
«As I start to reach the same milestones that he did in his youth, I do feel closer to him», - he added. «Really. My dad is like a superhero to me. He’s like this all-powerful, just superhero to me. And I’m so grateful for that, because even though I didn’t have a lot of time with my dad, I have someone who embodies everything I want to be in life».
Robert also made his film debut at the age of 6, starring in the 2010 film «Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove».
«His brother is just as amazing as she is!» Hough said in an interview with Us in September 2015. «I saw him, and he was just like, 'Oh my gosh, I’m so proud of Bindi! She’s amazing!' I was just like, 'You guys are all such cool people, and I’m so grateful that you’re in my life right now!'»
