Bad Bunny at the peak of his career with his latest project, which caused a storm of emotions among online fans. Find out how his parents influenced his music below!
Proud parents of Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, are Tito Martinez and Lysaurie Ocasio. They raised him in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, outside the capital city.
Lysaurie Ocasio was an English language teacher. As a devoted Christian, she took Bad Bunny to church every week. The singer was part of a children’s choir until he was 13, according to MSN. During an interview on the radio show Alofoke, the rapper revealed that his mom doesn’t really like the explicit language in his songs, so she preferred his album «Un Verano Sin Ti» over «Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Manana». The singer jokingly shared, «She listened to the whole album, but I don’t know if she played that song again», - commenting on his song «Telefono Nuevo». Despite some disagreements, his supportive mother often accompanied her son on tour.
Tito Martinez was a truck driver. Tito often took Bad Bunny on long trips with him. During their travels, Tito introduced the international sensation to different genres, including salsa, merengue, and ballads. Both parents did not allow Bad Bunny to listen to reggaeton, so he did it secretly and grew to love the genre.
Bad Bunny has two younger brothers. Bernie Martinez Ocasio is 27 years old, and Bisaél is 22 years old. Bernie was featured in Bad Bunny’s collaboration campaign with Adidas and often accompanied him on tours. Bernie became a graphic designer. Bisaél attended the Beltran Baseball Academy in Florida. He also studied at the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy school in the same state. Bisaél continued to play on the JV college baseball team at Monroe College in New York. Both brothers accompanied Bad Bunny to the Billboard Music Awards ceremony in 2021.
Bad Bunny announced an upcoming 21-day residency in Puerto Rico, so the singer will be visiting his homeland more often this year. In 2024, Bad Bunny concluded his Most Wanted Tour where it began, in Puerto Rico. The last three sold-out concerts took place in San Juan at the Puerto Rico Coliseum. In 2019, he joined artists like Residente and performed in support of the resignation of the governor. He is very outspoken about the corruption in the government of his homeland
