When ROSE — the world-renowned K-pop artist and member of BLACKPINK — opened her pop-up installation «rosie» in Los Angeles, fans lined up to be part of the first project on the West Coast related to the artist’s solo work. The space, created by Artisnyx in collaboration with the artist’s label, translated the visual language of her album into a physical environment designed for a global audience and social media. Within the creative framework of the project, art director Jayden S. Chien facilitated the spatial and visual coherence of the installation, closely collaborating with creative and production teams to realize the concept in a functional physical space.

Working within the creative direction set by the artist’s label, Chien managed the spatial flow and material logic of the installation, refining transitions in the layout, shaping the logic of surfaces and colors, and coordinating production teams throughout the process. He oversaw on-site execution to ensure the integrity of the original concept while creating an immersive space for fans. As a result, the installation connected ROSE’s music-oriented visual identity with a personal experience tailored for the American market, demonstrating how contemporary music branding increasingly merges physical expression with digital fandom.

Chien’s involvement in projects like the «rosie» pop-up reflects a broader practice based on translating artistic or brand identity into spatial form. Rather than dictating direction based on a specific set of aesthetics, this approach focuses on coherence and universality, working within the conceptual direction of each project and creating spaces that appear intentional, media-ready, and aligned with the established image of their partner. This emphasis on spatial coherence and visual tone also defines Chien’s approach to production design in music videos, where he translates the emotional essence of a song into spaces that support performance and visual narrative.

His production design for «I Don’t Feel Anything» by Kate Paitavin, which garnered over 105,000 views on YouTube, focused on developing a warm and cool palette and a layered language of props that reflected themes of emotional distance and self-reflection. Closely collaborating with the director and aligning with the artist’s visual tone, he structured the spatial and material logic of the environment to support the performance.

Chien also worked on «Make You Miss Me» by Paitavin, expanding the artist’s emotional framework into a new spatial context. By adapting stage elements to enhance the anxious, spiraling emotional tone of the track, he maintained a consistent visual language between the two videos while tailoring each environment to its unique emotional tone.

His role as art director in «Shadows» by Diablo, which amassed over 223,000 views on YouTube, required a different approach. Aligning with the visual structure of the project, Chien supported the execution of key stage elements and ensured the coherence of the environment with the darker tone of the video, contributing to the atmospheric integrity that boosted the video’s popularity on music platforms and social media.

These ideals are also reflected in the digital content industry, particularly through Chien’s position as a production designer for the streaming room of ThreadGuy, a widely recognized figure on Twitch, X, and Instagram.

He designed the room with an emphasis on maintaining visual clarity during long streams and varied lighting, resulting in a clean, camera-ready environment that matched the creator’s established on-screen persona.

Chien’s work also encompasses commercial advertising, including his role as art director in the promotional campaign for «Ice Black Tea» by Master Kong — one of the most well-known beverage brands
