Rosie O’Donnell apologized for her comments about her friend Wynonna Judd supporting President Donald Trump’s policies. In an interview with People on October 2, she said, «I just thought that since she performed at Mar-a-Lago, she [supports Trump]. I apologize if I was wrong».
The conflict between the friends arose after O’Donnell mentioned in August on the podcast «The Tangle with Kyle Ridley» that Judd is a supporter of Trump. She noted that despite their friendship, they had never discussed politics. Judd, for her part, denied these claims, stating that she was «shocked» to be labeled a Trump supporter. She emphasized that she had never spoken to O’Donnell about politics and identifies as an independent voter.
According to Judd, she is not angry with O’Donnell but was confused by being mentioned in that context. She added, «I just don’t want drama. If this is going to cause drama, I will say, 'Oh my God, there is so much going on in the world. Can we just love each other?'»
It is worth noting that Judd did perform at an event at Mar-a-Lago in November 2023, but overall she avoids discussing her political views in public. O’Donnell and Judd’s friendship began in the 1990s when Judd frequently appeared on O’Donnell’s show.
