Rumer Willis and Derek Richard Thomas split up a year after welcoming their little girl, Luette. The 36-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore confirmed the breakup during an Instagram «ask me anything» session on Thursday, August 22.
«Are you still together with Derek?» asked one social media user to Rumer, to which she replied, «No, I am single and co-parenting [sic]».
The «What Lies Ahead» actress then mentioned her daughter Luette in her response, writing that Luette is «the best thing that ever happened to my life, and I am forever grateful that I had the time in this relationship for her to come into my life».
Rumer officially announced her relationship with Derek in November 2022. She shared photos on Instagram of them kissing. However, rumors of their romance had already been circulating. In August of the same year, Derek congratulated Rumer on her birthday on his Instagram.
«In the short time we’ve been together, you’ve filled my life with joy and peace», - he wrote at the time. «With you, everything is so easy. We sing, dance, play, and most importantly, laugh. Thank you for being you, you’re a magical person, and I’m so glad you came into my life :-)»
In December, Rumer announced that she was pregnant and expecting her and Derek’s first child. The «Once Upon a Time in Hollywood» actress gave birth to their daughter in April 2023.
Rumer told PEOPLE magazine in August 2023 about the name she and Derek chose for their daughter, which turned out to be a typo.
«We were thinking of the name Loretta, and it was a typo», - said Rumer, adding, «Her dad and I were texting, and he missed the 'R' in Loretta, and it became Luette. I thought, 'Oh, I love this!' I feel like it was one of those moments of divine intervention, and we realized it pretty early in my pregnancy»
