According to reports, the movie «Rush Hour 4» is in development at Paramount studio, which teamed up with Skydance Media earlier this year. Many sources claim that the green light for production was given thanks to Donald Trump, who allegedly personally requested the company to start production of the fourth installment under the direction of Brett Ratner.
In a post dated November 25, 2025, entertainment industry journalist Matthew Belloni shared through his newsletter «What I Hear» that Paramount «WILL RELEASE Rush Hour 4 after persistent requests from Trump on behalf of Brett Ratner. A distribution deal has been made. Producer Tarak Ben Ammar is preparing financing. Get ready for the dumbest possible state-controlled media».
Below, Hollywood Life will keep you updated on everything we know so far about the production of «Rush Hour 4».
Yes, according to Belloni, «Rush Hour 4» is in development at Paramount studio, allegedly thanks to a personal request from Trump, according to Semafor, which was the first to report this news.
It is unclear when «Rush Hour 4» will be released as film production has not yet begun.
Original stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker will reprise their roles in the fourth film, according to Variety.
Ratner directed all three previous «Rush Hour» films. The director is also behind the upcoming documentary «Melania», - for which Amazon reportedly paid $ 40 million for distribution. The documentary explores the first lady’s experience returning to the White House and will be released in theaters in January 2026.
Ratner was accused of sexual assault by several people in 2017. It all started during the MeToo movement when former Endeavor talent agency employee Melanie Kohler accused him of rape. Several other women, including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, also accused Ratner of sexual assault and harassment. In that month, then 18-year-old Elliot Page accused the director of sexual harassment and outing him as gay before Page later admitted that he is transgender.
Ratner ultimately sued Kohler for defamation. He eventually withdrew the lawsuit, and both sides settled the matter in 2018.
This scandal ultimately derailed Ratner’s career in film for several years. The last film he directed was «Hercules» in 2014.
