The release of «Espresso» did not go as smoothly as Sabrina Carpenter had expected; she recalled feeling «completely alone» during the process of releasing the hit single. The 25-year-old singer released what became the summer hit, according to Ice Spice, in April, and since then it has gained wide popularity. In an interview for Variety, the Disney star shared: «I was completely alone in wanting to release 'Espresso'. Not so much with my immediate team, but when it came to the 'higher-ups', there were a lot of questions about whether it made sense».
Despite doubts from higher-ups, the singer «Feather» believed in herself and continued to release one of her most infectious records. The song was a success, even earning a performance at Coachella just a few days after its release.
Fans can expect more from the pop star on August 23, when she will release her highly anticipated album Short n' Sweet, which includes 12 tracks such as her other single «Please Please Please» and songs «Taste», «Good Graces», «Sharpest Tool», «Coincidence», «Bed Chem», «Dumb Poetic», «Slim Pickins», «Juno», «Lie To Girls», and «Don't Smile».
She shared with the publication: «I am so glad I finished this album before any songs came out. Not that I think I would let [the success of singles] influence me, but I really think sometimes you can’t help but write from a different perspective after certain life events. I’m trying to avoid calling it 'my dream album', because I don’t think I could have dreamt of this set of songs a couple of years ago».
The singer, who proudly describes herself as someone who «works late because she’s a singer», called this upcoming album her «second album». She explained: «When it comes to full creative control and being a full-fledged adult, I would consider this my second album».
Sabrina also announced to fans that she will be going on tour in North America, visiting cities such as New York, Chicago, Orlando, Los Angeles, and others
