Scooter Braun announced that he is retiring from his position as a manager in the music industry in a statement published on Monday, June 17. This pillar of the music industry, 43 years old, reflected on his over twenty years of experience in the industry and announced the next steps in his career. He revealed that he plans to join the board of directors of Hybe and become the CEO of Hybe America. «After 23 years, this chapter as a music manager has come to an end», - he wrote in the statement.
At the beginning of the post, Scooter recalled how far he had come since starting his career as an artist manager. «23 years ago, a 19-year-old guy started managing an artist named Kato in Atlanta, Georgia, and my journey began. Along the way, I had experiences I could never dream of», - he said. «So throughout my adult life, I played the role of an artist manager, on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And for 20 years, I loved it. It was all I knew. But as my kids grew older, and my personal life took hits, I realized that my kids are the 3 superstars I don’t want to lose. The sacrifices I was willing to make, I could no longer justify».
Scooter said that in his new role, he knew what should be the main focus in his life. He explained that his priorities now are «father first, CEO second, and manager no more».
Continuing his speech, Scooter talked about many artists he had helped develop over the years, especially highlighting how big Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber had become. The news of Scooter’s retirement and his move to a new position came almost a year after many of his clients left his roster. While people thought there might be some drama in losing clients, it now seems that he had been working on this transition for some time. Shortly after the departure of the artists, Scooter shared a quote about his «new life» on social media.
In the end of his announcement, Scooter expressed hope for what the next chapter of his life will bring. «I never saw how this chapter would end, damn, I didn’t even see it coming. But it did. And I will cherish every moment of it. I made my plan… but it turns out I like God’s plan better. Here’s to health!» he wrote
