On September 16, 2024, Sean «Diddy» Combs was arrested in New York by federal agents, and his charges were soon after made public. According to NBC News, Combs was charged with three felony crimes: organizing a criminal group, human trafficking, and transporting for prostitution. The grand jury indictment was opened on September 17.

This news came amidst legal troubles for the rapper and music producer, including a lawsuit filed in 2023 by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who claimed he had sexually assaulted her. Although he denied these allegations and reached a settlement, Combs is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.

Combs was arrested on September 16, and the charges against him were revealed when he was detained on Tuesday, September 17. According to court documents obtained by the publication, he and his accomplices were involved in «human trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice».

The music mogul is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

His lawyer, Mark Agnifilo, told reporters during his arrest: «He came to New York primarily to engage in the judicial system and start the proceedings, and they will begin today, and he will plead not guilty». Agnifilo added: «He will fight this with all his energy and all his strength and the full confidence of his lawyers».

The Department of Homeland Security did not publicly explain the reason for the search at Diddy’s home. However, the agency released a statement to several publications about the incident.

«The Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York conducted law enforcement activities as part of an ongoing investigation with support from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners», - the Department of Homeland Security explained in a statement published by CNN. «We will provide additional information as it becomes available».

According to NBC, a source told the publication that «three women and a man were questioned by federal officials in Manhattan in connection with allegations of human trafficking, sexual violence, and involvement in the distribution of illegal drugs and weapons». The publication also reported that the Department of Homeland Security and federal agents conducted searches at Diddy’s properties in Los Angeles and Miami. After the searches, law enforcement reportedly found weapons in both of the rapper’s residences.

While the Department of Homeland Security’s investigation of 2024 continues, Combs had previously faced allegations of sexual violence in late 2023. In November of that year, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Ventura filed a lawsuit against him in Federal District Court in New York for allegations of rape and violence.

According to court documents from Ventura’s lawsuit, she accused Combs of «beating» and «forcing sex» with «male prostitutes», - while Diddy allegedly recorded sexual «encounters». At the start of Ventura and Combs' relationship, she was 19 years old, and he was over 30. The former couple dated for several years.

In response to the allegations, Combs defended himself in an Instagram statement, which apparently has been deleted.

«ENOUGH», - he wrote. «For the past few weeks, I have silently watched as people try to kill my character, destroy my reputation, and my legacy. Disgusting allegations have been made against me by people looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I have not done any of the heinous things they say. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth».

Diddy’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, also released a statement denying the allegations
