Sean «Diddy» Combs has been placed on suicide watch while awaiting trial on three criminal charges related to over a decade of alleged violence. The music mogul is currently being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where a judge denied his bail appeal on Wednesday. The 54-year-old man is facing charges of organizing a criminal group, sex trafficking, and transporting for prostitution, with allegations dating back to 2008. He has declared his innocence.

Here is more information about Diddy’s current status and the detention center where he is awaiting trial.

Combs has been in federal custody in New York since Monday evening, and sources have confirmed that guards at the Metropolitan Detention Center are closely monitoring him. One source described the suicide watch as «procedural for high-profile clients». Previously, this facility has housed public figures such as R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Sam Bankman-Fried.

Representing the singer, Mark Agnifilo and Teni R. Geragos wrote in a bail proposal rejected by two Manhattan judges that the Brooklyn facility is «not suitable for pretrial detention», - describing the conditions as «horrendous».

Cameron Lindsay, former warden of MDC Brooklyn and a corrections expert, noted: «His celebrity status and allegations of violence against women make him a very attractive target for an attack». «In the prison subculture, taking a shot at someone like him would be considered a badge of honor», - Lindsay added.

MDC Brooklyn is a federal detention facility located in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn, New York, housing both men and women. According to CNN, Combs is alone in the Special Housing Unit at MDC Brooklyn, which is separated from the general prison population and is intended for inmates in need of protection.

Lindsay described the facility as «harsh» and «cold», - explaining that Diddy will not have access to the internet, and any time outdoors will be spent in a closed area.

In a phone interview, R. Kelly’s lawyer Nicole Blank Becker described Kelly’s time at the Brooklyn facility as «mentally devastating» and «one of the worst experiences I’ve ever heard of». «If Diddy goes through something similar to what R. Kelly went through, it won’t be good», - Blank Becker said, expressing her opinion that the prison is «not at all» safe. «We worried daily about whether R. Kelly was alive, to be honest», - she added. «It's inhumane — a completely different world. I mean, grown men cry».

Diddy is in MDC Brooklyn after being denied bail. During his bail hearing where a $ 50 million bail was proposed, the judge decided that he should remain in custody pending his case.

Agnifilo stated that they plan to appeal the judge’s decision. Addressing reporters, the lawyer emphasized that his client came to New York «to surrender» and abide by the law. «Why doesn’t the government want him to surrender? Because then they can’t ask for detention», - Agnifilo said. «All we can do is show good will. He got on a plane and came here. They arrested a man who came here to surrender».

According to NBC News, Combs is accused of running a «criminal enterprise» through his business, which engaged in «sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice». Additionally, he is charged with threatening and coercing «women and those around him to satisfy his sexual desires» by participating in «Freaky parties» that included recorded forced sexual acts. Federal agents claim to have seized over 1000 bottles of baby oil and other lubricants from Combs' homes that were used in these acts.
