Sean Kingston, reportedly, has agreed to return to Florida after being arrested on charges of fraud. According to the Associated Press, the 34-year-old rapper has waived his right to challenge extradition in California and will be handed over to authorities in Florida.
This news came the day after Kingston was detained in a jail in southern California on Tuesday, May 28, the publication reports. Representatives, reportedly, will be working with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to return Kingston to Florida.
Last week, the hitmaker of «Fire Burning» was arrested after police and SWAT conducted a raid at his home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, on May 23. During the investigation, Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, was also arrested on charges of «numerous cases of fraud and theft».
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to a request for comment from Hollywood Life.
Shortly after the raid, Kingston took to his Instagram Stories to comment on the situation.
«People love negative energy», - he wrote, adding, «I'm good, as well as my mother! My lawyers are handling all of this right now».
Kingston’s lawyer, Robert Rosenblatt, told NBC News in a statement that they are already «in the process of returning him to Florida after his performance». Rosenblatt added, «We want him to return as soon as possible to show that this is just a civil matter, not a criminal one. We look forward to the opportunity to challenge this case in court».
Reportedly, Kingston and Turner have been charged with conducting a fraud scheme with a jeweler from the Escalade car dealership totaling $ 480,000, according to various sources. Additionally, they are facing charges of stealing over $ 200,000 from Bank of America, $ 160,000 from the Escalade car dealership, and over $ 100,000 from First Republic Bank. They are also charged with identity theft, grand theft, and other related criminal offenses. Reportedly, Turner has posted bail and is not in custody. She faces eight charges, while Kingston faces ten fraud charges.
Arrest warrants for the mother and son were issued on May 20, although the raid and their subsequent arrests took place on May 23
