Sebastian Stan is now competing for an Oscar in the Best Actor category for his role as a young Donald Trump in the series «The Apprentice». His co-star Jeremy Strong from «Succession», who plays Roy Cohn, is nominated for Best Supporting Actor. «This film was the most difficult thing I have ever done», - he recently said on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast. «Not only because of the challenges of playing Trump, but also because of the reaction it provokes».
The actor admitted that not everyone supported his decision to take on the controversial role. «I was told not to do it», - he said. «They said it could alienate people, that I don’t look like him, that it’s too dangerous. But for me, acting is about embracing discomfort… trying to understand humanity, even in the darkest places».
Stan also admitted that the reaction to the controversial film was «tough». «It was interesting to see how uncertain people were», - he said, according to Variety. «People would come up to me at parties, say it was their favorite film of the year, but when it came to publicly supporting it, there was silence.
