Selena Gomez: «I was alone for five years, but now I have found true love»

Selena Gomez did not want another monotonous love that would break her, so she was «single for five years». The 31-year-old multi-talented personality recalled her years of being single before meeting boyfriend Benny Blanco during her latest interview with TIME. Speaking to the publication in a profile published on Wednesday, May 29, Selena noted that many people «fear» being alone, but she has «gotten used to it».
«I was single for five years, and I really got used to it», - explained the performer of «Love On». «Many people are afraid of being alone, and I probably tortured myself in my head for about two years being alone, and then I somehow embraced it».
Using these years for self-reflection, Selena «came up with a plan that she would decide to adopt at 35 if she hadn’t met anyone».
Now that she has found true love with Benny, 36, Selena noted that «it happens when you least expect it». Since she and Benny were originally friends and colleagues for many years, the actress of «Only Murders in the Building» shared that she once asked him to be a matchmaker for her before they started dating in 2023.
«I just cherish every moment with him», - Selena told the publication, before excitedly adding, «I don’t know what the future holds for us, but I know he’s not going anywhere anytime soon».
Earlier this month, Benny told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show that he is looking forward to starting a family.
«I want to have kids, that’s my next goal», - said the record producer on Howard Stern’s show. «I have a lot of godchildren; I have a lot of nieces. I love being around kids».
Elsewhere in his interview, Benny agreed with Howard that marriage is in their and Selena’s future. However, he does not have a set proposal date yet.
«I need to gather my strength», - he joked, adding, «When I look at her … I always just think that I can’t imagine a world where it could be better than it is now».
Before falling in love with Benny, Selena’s most public and long-lasting relationship was with Justin Bieber. They dated on and off from 2010 to 2018, and he married his wife, Hailey Bieber, later that same year
