Selma Blair appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday, June 5, accompanied by her service dog Scout. The 51-year-old actress walked the red carpet in a black dress and shoes, with her faithful companion leading the way.
Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, the actress from the movie «Legally Blonde» shared in an interview with People magazine in May: «He [Scout] is always with me. If I have a strong spasm or have trouble with movement, and I need to recalibrate, he can stand between my legs, help me stand up and balance me… It has given me a lot of independence».
In addition to the tremendous support Scout provides to the actress from the movie «Cruel Intentions», - he also plays a significant role in the family. «My son, when he goes to his father’s, is happy to know that Scout is with me, and I didn’t realize he had concerns about my mobility or safety», - she shared.
On Wednesday, Selma attended the festival in support of the film «Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge». «Oh, I greatly respect Paulina Porizkova. She is my dear friend and beautiful. Diane von Furstenberg, truly, because of her resilience, always remains classic. There are so many of them», - she said on the red carpet.
«There are those I have adored since childhood, like Lauren Hutton and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen… Those who were fun mysteries will always be adored. I love everyone who remains strong, regardless of their style», - Selma added.
In addition to the usual Hollywood evening, she is a judge at the Tribeca Film Festival for the 2024 Nora Ephron Awards. According to the press release, the winner will «honor the spirit and vision of the legendary filmmaker and writer». In addition to Selma, the jury includes David O. Russell, Asghar Farhadi, Kim Cattrall, Chinonye Chukwu, Nisha Pahuja, Nykata Jusu, Sheila Nevins, Francesca Scorsese, Clara McGregor, and others.
«We are thrilled to once again welcome a diverse group of wonderful filmmakers, creative personalities, and industry representatives as jury members at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival… We look forward to their diverse perspectives on genres and storytelling methods coming together to honor an extraordinary group of submissions this year», - said Nancy Lefkowitz, Executive Vice President of Tribeca Enterprises
