The family of the late NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, his widow Samantha Busch and their 11-year-old son Brexton, honored his memory at a celebration of life ceremony held on October 9 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
According to ESPN, more than 10,000 racing fans attended the event. Samantha delivered an emotional ten-minute speech, stating that she does not want this event to be the final chapter in Kyle’s story. She emphasized, «This is not the end of Kyle’s story. His story continues every time we give young drivers a chance or share what he taught us».
Samantha expressed gratitude to the racing community, noting that she did not realize how important the sport was until she lost her husband. She added, «The races went on, the cars continued to circle the track, but our world stopped. I didn’t know how we would find our way without him. But then all of you showed us how».
To honor his father, Brexton performed a drift in his dad’s car No. 8 from Richard Childress Racing and bowed to the crowd. Kyle Busch passed away on May 21, with his death attributed to pneumonia that progressed to sepsis.
Samantha and Kyle met at a racing event in 2007, began dating, and married in December 2010. They had two children: Brexton, born on May 10, 2015, and Lennix, who was born via surrogate on May 18, 2022. Following Kyle’s death, Samantha thanked everyone for their support on Instagram, noting that the kindness of those around them helped them through the toughest days.
