The Merdo family reveals dark secrets in the new series «Death in the Family»

The Murda family was thrown into an unwanted spotlight after former lawyer and convicted killer Alex Murda fatally wounded his wife Maggie and their 22-year-old son Paul in June 2021. Four years later, Hulu released a true crime mini-series inspired by this case. With a star-studded cast, here’s everything you need to know about Murda: Death in the Family.

«Part of what I found really interesting about this was that … most women killed in America are killed by their intimate partners. And I’m very close in age to her», - Patricia told the publication before the show’s premiere. «I also grew up in that era when there was this good girl indoctrination of what it means to be a mom and a wife and [how] that’s noble, that’s what you should aspire to».
Jason plays the role of convicted killer Alex Murda, who was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. During an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life at the premiere of his Apple TV+ series «The Last Frontier», - Jason explained how he managed to juggle three roles in 2025 between his Hulu and Apple shows and his Netflix movie «Dynamite House».
«I could only do one after I did the other», - Jason explained, referring to his characters. «I couldn’t do Murda and then jump to this [The Last Frontier]. But I was able to do that, and then jump to Murda. And you realize you have the physical energy to gain 40 pounds to get into this character, which is doing the impossible».
Brittany plays the role of Mandy, a true crime podcaster, in a recurring role.
Johnny plays the late son of Alex, Paul, whom he was found guilty of fatally wounding, in addition to Maggie
