Ken is the Attorney General of Texas and a staunch supporter of Donald Trump. The Republican has held this position since 2015 and plans to run for Senate in 2026 against Senator John Cornyn in the Republican primaries.

In 2023, Ken was impeached by the Texas House of Representatives after being charged with securities fraud related to activities prior to taking office. Additionally, employees of his office accused Ken of bribery and abuse of power. The Texas Senate acquitted him of the charges, and the Department of Justice declined to press charges.

Angela has been the Majority Leader in the Texas Senate, representing District 8 in the state since 2019. She met Ken in college, where he was the student council president at the time. Angela has been a close advisor to her husband throughout their political careers, and they married in 1986.

Angela accused Ken of adultery in her divorce statement on July 10, 2025. In a public statement she posted through X, Angela wrote on Twitter: «Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds. I believe marriage is a sacred covenant, and I sincerely sought reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe this glorifies God or is loving towards myself, my children, or Ken, to remain in the marriage. I move forward with full confidence that God always works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose».

In her statement, Angela demands an «unequal distribution» of their joint property and claims that he is guilty of the breakdown of their marriage, according to CBS News. Angela also accused Ken of adultery and of benefiting from her remaining in the marriage.

When he was impeached in 2023, Ken was accused of helping an alleged mistress named Laura Olson. Some have made statements that Ken «benefited from Nate Paul hiring a woman with whom Paxton had an extramarital affair», - according to the New York Post, and one witness had previously testified before the Texas Legislature that Ken admitted to the affair with Laura.

Ken has not publicly admitted to the affair.

Yes, the Paxtons are raising four children together.

Some Republicans have not hesitated to criticize Ken for his alleged affair and final divorce from Angela. NRSC Public Relations Director Joanna Rodriguez reacted to news of their split on Twitter, calling Ken «disgusting».

«What Ken Paxton has put his family through is truly disgusting and despicable», - Joanna wrote. «No one should have to…»
