In November 2017, Serena Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, married Alexis Ohanian in a stunning wedding. Alexis quickly became not only a supportive partner, but also Serena’s biggest fan.
Before Serena stepped away from tennis in September 2022, Alexis was often seen courtside at her tournaments, cheering her on, attentively watching, and fist-pumping for her! The couple, who are raising their adorable daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. and little girl Adira River Ohanian, are a true power couple.
Like Serena, Alexis is much more than meets the eye. Learn more about him below!
Alexis co-founded Reddit with Steve Huffman in 2005 and left the company in 2007, but returned full-time in 2015. He also helped launch Hipmunk, a travel search website, and Breadpig, a company that creates geeky products and donates proceeds to charity.
Alexis and Serena reportedly met at a lunch and began dating shortly after. Initially, the couple kept their relationship private, but now they are essentially #CoupleGoals. They constantly support each other, with Alexis often admiring how incredible Serena is as a mother, tennis player, and inspiration.
After the birth of their sweet two-year-old daughter, whom they call Olympia, Alexis truly had to step up after Serena experienced life-threatening complications following a cesarean section. Since then, Alexis has become an advocate for paid family leave, writing an article in The New York Times in August 2019: «We need a federal law that mandates quality paid family leave for all — parents, adoptive parents, and caregivers. Until that happens, dads, let me be your cover. I took my full 16 weeks and am still ambitious and care about my career. Talk to your bosses and tell them I sent you».
In addition to his support for paid parental leave, Alexis uses his privileged position and platform to support marginalized communities. In October 2017, he collaborated with two women to create a headscarf emoji design. «Proud to work with @RayoufAlhumedhi and @jenny8lee on a proposal to the Unicode Technical Committee to add a headscarf emoji so millions of women around the world are represented», - he shared on his website on October 6, 2017.
He released the book «Without Their Permission: How the 21st Century Will Be Made, Not Managed» in 2013. The book serves as a helpful guide for aspiring entrepreneurs
