Residents of the northern states across America can see not only a sky full of stars. On Thanksgiving Day, they can once again see the Northern Lights, known as the Aurora Borealis! On Thursday, November 28, the northern states may be gifted with pink and green hues, like in October, thanks to a geomagnetic storm. So, will the Northern Lights be visible to you on Thanksgiving Day?

Find out if you are in a location where the Northern Lights may appear this time.

Geomagnetic storms are «serious disturbances of Earth’s magnetosphere that occur when there is a very efficient exchange of energy from the solar wind into Earth’s environment», - according to the Space Weather Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). They are formed from «changes in the solar wind» that can alter «currents, plasmas, and fields in Earth’s magnetosphere», - according to the website.

When strong geomagnetic storms occur, NOAA warns that they can disrupt power grids. This, in turn, can lead to power outages.

According to the Associated Press, residents of the states of Washington, Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Maine may see some auroras. Northern areas of New York, Wyoming, New Hampshire, and Vermont may also catch a glimpse if they are lucky.

People living in Canada and Northern Europe are also likely to be able to see the Northern Lights again on November 28.

Residents of the northern part of the United States may see the Northern Lights on Black Friday, which falls on November 29.

Experts claim that the lights may be visible from 10:00 pm Eastern Time on November 28 until around 1:00 am Eastern Time on November 29, according to the AP
