Shia LaBeouf was once one of the brightest stars of the 2000s. After gaining fame as a child actor in the film «Holes» and becoming popular on the Disney Channel in the series «Even Stevens», - Shia starred in major films such as «Fury», - «Indiana Jones», - and the «Transformers» franchise. Although his career brought him success in blockbusters, it was also marred by public scandals and legal disputes, including a high-profile lawsuit against FKA Twigs, which was settled in 2025.

In recent years, the former Disney star has largely stepped away from Hollywood. In January 2024, it was reported that Shia was accepted into the Catholic Church on December 31, 2023, and he later spoke publicly about the possibility of becoming a deacon.

In the early 2000s, Shia transitioned from youth films to adult projects such as «Transformers», - «Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps», - and «Eagle Eye». In addition to acting, he also engaged in other projects, including creating graphic novels. He nearly starred in the Broadway production of «Orphans», - but producers claimed he was fired, while he insisted he left due to «creative differences» with actor Alec Baldwin.

Throughout the 2010s, Shia’s personal life often became a topic of discussion. In 2012, he began dating Mia Goth, and they married in 2016. However, two years later, they separated and divorced.

From 2018 to 2019, Shia dated FKA Twigs, and then he was in a relationship with Margaret Qualley in 2020−2021. FKA Twigs sued Shia for sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress during their relationship. Although he denied the allegations, the actor publicly apologized, as reported by TODAY.

«I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations», - he said. «I have been cruel to myself and to everyone around me for many years. I have a history of causing pain to those close to me. I am ashamed of this and I apologize to those I have hurt. I have nothing more to say».

It is currently unclear what happened with the lawsuit from 2022, but he continued to work in film and theater. Shia also reconciled with Mia, and they welcomed a daughter named Isabel. However, that same year, he made headlines again due to a public conflict with «Don't Worry Darling» director Olivia Wilde.

In recent years, LaBeouf has largely stepped out of the Hollywood spotlight. He has taken on small but challenging projects—from the boxing drama «The Tax Collector» (2025) to writing and acting in the upcoming World War II film «Death Angel"—and became the subject of the 2025 documentary «Slauson Rec», - which focused on his experimental theater troupe.

After FKA Twigs sued him, TODAY reported that his former agency, Creative Artists Agency, released a statement regarding the state of his acting career in 2021.

«[Shia] made the decision to seek inpatient help and support, and as part of that, he stepped away from the industry», - the agency’s statement, which severed ties with him, said.

In early 2024, it was reported that Shia was accepted into the Catholic Church and intended to become a deacon. A statement confirming his acceptance was posted on the Facebook page of the Capuchin Franciscans of Western America.

«We are pleased to announce that our dear friend Shia LaBeouf fully entered the church this past weekend through the sacrament of confirmation!» the post read. «The Capuchin Franciscans joyfully welcome him into their community and witness his deep commitment to the spiritual path. Shia LaBeouf, known for his incredible talent and passion in the entertainment industry, has begun a profound spiritual journey that has led him to embrace the teachings of the Catholic Church. His decision to fully enter the church is a testament to his sincere desire to grow in his relationship with God and live by Gospel values»
