Shiloh Jolie filed documents to change her father Brad Pitt’s last name on her 18th birthday in May in a Los Angeles court. It has just been revealed that Shiloh used her own money and hired a lawyer to file the petition herself, according to a new report from E! News. This young person, who is the child of Brad and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, is now called Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
A source told the publication that she hired a lawyer on her own and used money that was her own to file the petition to change her father’s last name. Together Brad, 60, and Angelina, 48, raised six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, both 15.
Brad and Angelina were married from 2014 to 2016. Their divorce was officially finalized in 2019, but after the split they entered into a contentious legal battle over joint ventures and custody of the children. During the marriage, Angelina also used her then-husband's last name in hers, but after the split she dropped it. Shiloh is not the only one of their children who has dropped the «Fight Club» star’s last name. Reports say that Zahara used only «Jolie» when introducing herself at her college fraternity during her second year of college, and Vivienne used only her mother’s last name in the program for the Broadway play «Outcast».
During their messy divorce, the «Maleficent» star accused Brad of violence in court documents, citing an alleged incident in 2016 on a plane. She accused him of pushing her into a bathroom wall and «striking the plane’s ceiling multiple times». She also claimed that he «grabbed [her] head and shook it», - as well as «strangled one of their children and struck another».
Brad denied these accusations. «Brad has taken responsibility for his actions, but he will not be held accountable for things he did not do. These new allegations are absolutely false», - his representative told CNN at the time
