Shay Mitchell is not quite ready to watch «Pretty Little Liars» with her daughter Atlas. During an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson show on Thursday, June 6, the 37-year-old actress admitted that she «always» thinks about whether she should watch her successful series on Freeform with her 4-year-old daughter.
«I always think about it, my partner and I always talk about it, he says, 'When Atlas is old enough, we’ll watch it again,' and I say, 'Oh, my eyebrows were very thin during the filming of that season,'» Shay explained.
The Canadian actress continued to describe how «incredible» it was to work on the hit show, where she played Emily Fields alongside her co-stars Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, and Sasha Pieterse. Emily’s journey on the show included coming out to her parents as gay in the first season, as well as dealing with an unknown stalker with her friends Spencer, Aria, and Hanna after their queen bee friend, Alison, disappeared.
«I don’t know if I’m ready, but, you know, it was such an incredible experience, absolutely, I only have fond memories of filming», - Shay added. «Maybe I’ll watch a couple of episodes. It was a lot, it was seven seasons. There was a lot of show, but maybe when the time comes».
Earlier, Shay opened up about «PLL» during an interview with Byrdie last year. Speaking to the publication in December 2023, the «Dollface» actress admitted that she was «scared» of her lack of acting experience compared to her co-stars.
«When I got the role on the show, I knew I didn’t have as much acting experience as the other girls», - Shay said. «Part of me was scared, but I knew I would figure it out in the end. Do I think my performance deserves an Oscar? Absolutely not. But damn, I did it, and I tried my best. I learned more [on that set] than I could have in any acting class».
As for Shay’s personal life, she welcomed Atlas in October 2019 and her second daughter, Rumi, in May 2022. She shares both children with her longtime partner Matte Babel, whom Shay has been dating since 2017
