Comedian Shane Gillis accidentally swore on air during the October 10 episode of Saturday Night Live. He was participating in a sketch titled «Green Eggs and Ham» alongside actors Andrew Dismukes and Mikey Day, portraying characters inspired by the works of Dr. Seuss.

During the performance, Gillis said, «My dad said he doesn’t like green eggs and ham, throw it away and get out. Bro, that’s not an option! He said he doesn’t f*** — damn it — he doesn’t like them». He then laughed and raised his hand as if apologizing to the live audience. NBC and Peacock quickly censored his words.

Although Gillis continued with the performance, he later apologized for his accidental profanity in the farewell segment before the credits: «Sorry about that earlier. Thank you so much. I had a great night». It is currently unknown whether Gillis or the show will face any penalties for his remark. Former cast member Ego Nwodim was not fined after audience members shouted «s***» during her performance on Weekend Update.

Nwodim reported that she asked showrunner Lorne Michaels about a possible fine, and he replied that, in his opinion, there was no fine.
