Shania Twain opened up about her feelings towards her ex-husband Mutt Lange over 15 years after their breakup due to his affair with her then best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud. She discussed her feelings about the breakup all these years later in an interview on Great Company With Jamie Laing on Tuesday, May 28. She admitted that she does not «hate» Mutt.

The couple split in 2008 after Shania found out about the famous producer’s affair with her friend. After the breakup, Mutt stayed with Marie-Anne, and Shania got together with her friend’s ex-husband Frederic Thiebaud. The couple got married in 2011 and they are still together.
When asked about Mutt on the podcast, Shania admitted that she holds no grudges against him. «Do I hate my ex-husband for making a mistake? No. That’s his mistake. Not mine», - she said, as reported by People. «It's so sad for him that he made such a big mistake that he has to live with. And I don’t know what that mistake is, but it’s not… It’s not my burden».
Earlier in the conversation, Shania opened up about her personal approach to forgiveness. «Forgiveness is about releasing. But forgiveness, more specifically for me anyway, doesn’t necessarily mean forgetting. It’s about understanding the other person, and it can mean that they were wrong», - she said. «Maybe you’ll always think that something they did was wrong».
In 2023, Shania talked about her relationship with Mutt over a decade after their breakup, admitting that they co-parent their son together, although they hardly communicate with each other during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast. «Mutt and I co-parent our son well, although we don’t really communicate with each other», - she said. «We both love our son very much, so we don’t play those games.
