Quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, Shedeur Sanders, spoke about the WAG (wives and girlfriends of athletes) culture in the NFL, noting that he has his own views on relationships. In an interview for Cosmopolitan published on October 8, he discussed his preferences in partners and how his status affects perceptions.
Sanders, who is 24 years old, emphasized that his views on relationships differ from those of many people, as he is a representative of the second generation of athletes. He noted that when he was asked about WAG, some did not understand his perspective. «It's a different type of pressure and attention that you get when you’re dating me», - he said.
The quarterback also shared that he is looking for a partner who is striving for success in their career. «I'm more interested in what you’re doing now and where you’re planning to go», - he explained. When asked what he envisions in his ideal woman, Sanders remarked, «If I knew that, I would already be in a relationship».
He added that he prefers slow, strong relationships that start with friendship. «I protect my family and those I love. I’m very selective about who comes into my life», - he noted. Sanders also expressed a desire for people to understand him better as a person, rather than just as the son of famous athlete Deion Sanders.
So far, Shedeur Sanders has thrown only one pass in the 2026 regular season, as he has given way to veteran Deshaun Watson in the starting lineup. Nevertheless, the Browns are performing well, holding a 3−1 record and sharing first place in the division with the Baltimore Ravens.
