Chocolate products have been recalled due to a potential health threat

This year saw a series of food product recalls, with the latest one involving one of the most famous snacks in America: chocolate. Two well-known candies are being removed from shelves by their company, Weaver Nut Company, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A month ago, frozen products were recalled by Wells Enterprises «due to potential plastic contamination». The recall led to the disposal of 17,800 boxes of ice cream and frozen yogurt.

According to the FDA press release, Nonpareil bittersweet Christmas and white seeds were recalled «due to potential presence of undeclared milk allergens».
«People with allergies or severe sensitivity to milk risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions when consuming the affected products», - the FDA stated. «Customers who have purchased the affected product and have a milk allergy are strongly advised not to consume it. If you have a milk allergy sensitivity, the product should be immediately disposed of or returned for a full refund to the place of purchase».
The FDA noted that the issue with these two recalled Nonpareils «was identified through a complaint from a wholesale customer upon receipt of a shipment that did not meet updated product specifications, followed by laboratory testing to confirm the presence of milk».
The FDA is urging all American consumers to check the product label for any Nonpareils they have purchased. As stated in the FDA press release, anyone who has purchased one of the recalled items can receive a full refund regardless of the condition of the packaging
